Obama veto threats at record pace to begin new Congress

But the White House blames Republicans, saying they're bringing up bills they already know he opposes.Whoever's at fault, the amount of veto brinksmanship appears to be at a modern high. Counting a verbal veto threat on an Iran sanctions bill that hasn't been drafted yet, Obama's veto threat count so far this year rises to nine. By comparison, Reagan issued five veto threats by this point in 1987, but those threats were on different versions of just two bills.Until now, Obama had been relatively restrained in his use of vetoes and veto threats. Working with a Democratic-controlled Congress, Obama spent the first 17 months of his presidency without issuing a single veto threat, before using it on a Republican-sponsored bill on greenhouse gas emissions.His 148 veto threats in his first six years had been the fewest of any president since Reagan. And he's vetoed just two bills, the fewest of any president since James Garfield's assassination-shortened 199-day term in 1881.So the spurt of veto threats may bode poorly for bipartisan cooperation as Obama faces a Republican-controlled Congress for the first time in his presidency.Congressional Republicans say the veto threats are sabotaging any chance of bipartisanship. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said he confronted Obama about his veto threats at a meeting at the White House two weeks ago."He starts off how he wants to work together. I said, 'Mr, President, you've already issued five veto threats. If you want to work together, why not let the legislative process play out?' " McCarthy said. "The president really couldn't answer me when I called him on it."But the White House says congressional Republicans are deliberately passing veto-bait bills they already know the president opposes."Right out of the gate we see that the new Republican majority in Congress is actually recycling old legislation that they know that the President strongly opposes," Press Secretary Josh Earnest said this month. "So it doesn't send a very clear signal that this new Republican Congress is ready to pursue a different political strategy than the one that they've pursued for the last four years."Most veto threats come through what's known as a statement of administration policy, issued by the Office of Management and Budget.But Obama also issued four veto threats in a single paragraph of his State of the Union speech. "We can't slow down businesses or put our economy at risk with government shutdowns or fiscal showdowns. We can't put the security of families at risk by taking away their health insurance, or unraveling the new rules on Wall Street, or refighting past battles on immigration when we've got a system to fix. And if a bill comes to my desk that tries to do any of these things, it will earn my veto," he said.Then he issued a fifth veto threat on an as-yet-unwritten Iran sanctions bill. "New sanctions passed by this Congress, at this moment in time, will all but guarantee that diplomacy fails — alienating America from its allies; and ensuring that Iran starts up its nuclear program again," Obama said. "That is why I will veto any new sanctions bill that threatens to undo this progress."That's the most veto threats in a single State of the Union Address since at least Franklin Roosevelt, according to the fact-checking web site Politifact.Do veto threats make a difference? Consider the case of the Promoting Job Creation and Reducing Small Business Burdens Act, which would roll back some of the Dodd-Frank financial regulations passed in the aftermath of the financial meltdown.That bill first came to the House floor on Jan. 7 under suspension of the rules — meaning it needed a two-thirds majority to pass. It fell short, 276-146, with 35 Democrats voting for the bill. The next week, the House voted again on a straight up-or-down vote.In the meantime, Obama issued a veto threat on Jan. 12 — and the bill lost the support of seven more Democrats.Two members — Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., and Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill. — said they simply hit the wrong button the first time they voted on the bill. But others said the veto threat did force them to reconsider the bill.Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash., originally supported the bill despite misgivings over the delaying implementation of the Volcker Rule, which prohibits banks from making speculative investments."After the veto threat and the lack of support to pass it under suspension of the rules, she saw that there would be an opportunity to go back to the drawing board and pass a bipartisan bill that doesn't include this damaging provision and craft a more reasonable bill that would actually have a chance of becoming law," said DelBene spokeswoman Ramsey Cox.Another bill Obama threatened to veto would have banned abortions after 20 weeks. That bill was pulled from the floor after moderate House Republicans objected to provisions dealing with rape.McCarthy said veto threats do make it more difficult for House members — especially Democrats — to take tough votes. "I think in their minds, they're afraid of losing on a bill he could veto," he said.But Samuel Kernell, a political science professor at the University of California, San Diego, said the real audience for Obama's veto threats is in the upper chamber. The House rarely removes an objectionable provision from a bill because of a veto threat, but the Senate — where rules give the minority party more clout — often does."The Senate is where the action is," Kernell said. "The vast majority of all veto threats, if they are going to be accommodated at all, will be accommodated in the Senate."That accommodation doesn't seem to be happening. The Senate is poised to vote on a bill approving the Keystone XL pipeline before turning to a Homeland Security spending bill that attempts to block Obama's executive action on immigration. Both are subject to veto threats.Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., remains unfazed."The President vetoed two bills in six years — two little bills over technicalities," he said on CBS' 60 Minutes Sunday. "The reason was the Senate never sent him anything that caused him any discomfort. In our system, it's going to happen occasionally. Cukup mengejutkan dan tuannya kelu apabila seekor kucing di Florida yang dilanggarkan sebuah kereta, dan dikebumikan kemudiannya, bangkit semula dari kuburnya.

Pemilik kucing berusia 23 bulan itu, Ellis Hutson, berkata tubuh Brat (nama kucing) - dijumpai di tengah jalan dan berlumuran darah selepas terlibat dalam insiden itu dua minggu lalu, lapor portal berita ABC news.

Dalam laporan itu, Hutson berkata beliau menyuruh rakannya mengebumikan Brat selepas tukang kebunnya amat sedih selepas kehilangan Brat yang dimanjai sejak kecil.

"Kami cukup rapat, saya tidak sanggup untuk mengebumikannya. Saya letaknya ditepi jalan dan pergi mendapatkan David (kawan).

"Dia menggali lubang dan kambus kucing itu dengan tanah. Saya sendiri menyaksikan dia mengebumikan kucing itu," katanya dilapor portal berita itu pada Rabu.

Bagaimanapun lima hari lalu, Brat muncul di rumah jirannya dalam keadaan lemah, dehidrasi dan memerlukan rawatan rapi kerana rahangnya pecah, muka serta matanya cedera parah.

"Saya  membuka pintu dan jiran saya berdiri di depan sambil memegang kucing itu dalam pelukannya," katanya Hutson.

"Dia (jiran), Bart tak mati. Saya kata itu tidak mungkin. Kami telah mengebumikannya," katanya lagi dalam laporan itu.

Brat telah menjalani pembedahan di klinik veterinar Humane Society untuk membetulkan rahang dan mengeluarkan matanya dan dijangka pulih dan pulang ke rumah selepas beberapa hari.

Pemandu teksi berkenaan Husin Mahmad, 55, dari Felda Bukit Goh, mati di tempat kejadian, manakala seorang kakitangan Jabatan Pendidikan Pahang, Munirah Md Jedi, 31, cedera.
    
Ketua Turus Trafik Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen (IPK) Pahang, Supt Mohd Noor Yusof Ali berkata, kemalangan berlaku pukul 7.30 pagi semasa kedua-dua kenderaan tersebut dari arah Sungai Lembing menghala ke bandar Kuantan.
    
"Nahas dipercayai berlaku apabila kereta Proton Saga yang dipandu Munirah cuba memotong teksi tersebut.
    
Bagaimanapun semasa sedang memotong, secara tiba-tiba teksi itu membelok masuk simpang ke Taman Kampung Padang Jaya di kanan jalan menyebabkan kedua-dua kenderaan itu bergesel sebelum terbabas dan terjunam masuk ke dalam paya di kiri jalan," katanya ketika dihubungi hari ini.
    
Katanya, akibat kejadian itu pemandu teksi terbabit telah terperangkap di dalam keretanya dan disahkan mati di tempat kejadian.
    
Beliau berkata, mangsa telah dihantar ke Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan untuk bedah siasat manakala wanita yang cedera itu turut dirawat di hospital sama.
    
Mohd Noor berkata, kes disiasat mengikut Seksyen 41(1) Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987.

Setia Alam house buyers sue developer, PKNS – Bernama

Ten house buyers in Setia Alam in Shah Alam, have filed a lawsuit against a housing developer and Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).Ruhani Baharum, 46, Tham Kok Pew, 53, Wan Mohd Wan Hashim Yusoff, 40, Mohd Nizam Abdul Rahman, 38, Hong Hong Chik, 41, Hing Aik Choong, 37, Ng Kim Thong, 45, Razmair Shah Abdul Razak, 37, Nordin Hisham Mohd Hanapiah, 46, and Ku Kean Thong, 45, filed the suit today, through law firm S.Surendran & Co.In their statement of claim, the plaintiffs said in 2010, Sazean Development Sdn Bhd initiated a residential development project on a 143-hectare freehold property known as Anjung Sari@ Bandar Setia Alam, owned by PKNS.They alleged that in 2010, they respectively entered into a sales and purchase agreement to buy a three-storey terrace house valued between RM548,888 and RM741,902.They said a clause in the agreement stated that Sazean Development (first defendant) must provide vacant possession to the plaintiffs within 24 months from the date of the sales and purchase agreement.The plaintiffs claimed they had not received vacant possession of their house, and Sazean Development's response to repeated queries was that the snag was due to PKNS' delay in giving the required approval.According to the plaintiffs, they had paid nearly 95% of the purchase price of their house through bank loan to the first defendant.The delay by Sazean Development in delivery of vacant possession was a breach of the terms in the sales and purchase agreement, they alleged.The plaintiffs also claimed the first defendant's breach of the agreement was due to negligence and PKNS' failure to ensure that the project was given to a reputable company with experience and financial standing, and able to complete it on schedule.The actions of both the defendants, the plaintiffs claimed, had caused hardship as they could not reside in their dream home and consequently suffered losses as they were forced to pay rent while waiting to occupy it, or forego income from rental.In this regard, the plaintiffs are seeking specific performance compelling Sazean Development to fulfill its obligations under the sales and purchase agreement.Alternatively, should the first defendant fail to abide by the order, the plaintiffs want a declaration that PKNS together with Sazean Development must complete the project and deliver vacant possession of their homes within six months from the date of judgment, and bear the plaintiffs' losses incurred for rent and/or rental income opportunities.The plaintiffs are also seeking a declaration that the two defendants were liable for liquidated ascertained damages, general damages, interest, costs and any other relief deemed fit by the court.Meanwhile, Hong who acted as the plaintiffs' spokesman, told reporters that the action was taken as a last resort.The writ of summons would be delivered to the two defendants tomorrow. – Bernama, January 28, 2015.

Captured fugitives get 8 years jail, whipping for robbery, escaping police custody

Two men who escaped from police custody and were on the run for two years, were today sentenced to eight years jail each and whipping after they pleaded guilty to committing multiple offences, including gang robbery and fleeing from the cops.Hamzani Harun, 38, and Hissham Abdul Rahman, 40, pleaded guilty at the Butterworth Sessions Court to robbing Tann Suu Ee, 29, of 14 branded computers and RM1,000 cash on July 26, 2012 about 5.20am in Tasek Gelugor.They had committed the robbery while armed with machetes, an offence under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, with another person who is still at large.Sessions judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi sentenced the duo to six years jail each and two strokes of the rotan.The duo, who were unrepresented, appealed to the court to let them serve their sentences concurrently, since they were facing multiple charges.But their request was denied after Deputy Public Prosecutor Fauziah Daud asked the court to order the duo to serve their sentences consecutively because they were not sorry for the crimes they committed.At a Butterworth Magistrate's Court later, Hamzani and Hissham were charged under Section 224 of the Penal Code for escaping police custody.They pleaded guilty to the offence, which was committed with five others on January 7, 2013 at about 9.45am at Butterworth Outer Ring Road interchange in Bagan Ajam while they were being transported from the Penang Prison to the court to be charged.Magistrate Muhammad Firdaus Abdul Wahab sentenced the men to 20 months jail each. They will serve the sentence after completing their six-year term for armed gang robbery.Hamzani and Hissham were then charged under Section 28 (i)(ii) of the Minor Offences Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, for possessing tools and weapons, such as nine pliers, six screwdrivers, a hammer, a saw and four machetes, that were used in their armed gang robbery in July 2012.They also pleaded guilty before Firdaus sentenced them to four months jail each.Hamzani and Hissham also pleaded guilty to injecting morphine into their own bodies on January 21 this year at about 6pm at the district narcotics office, an offence under Section (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.The duo face a maximum two years jail or up to RM5,000 fine for the offence but Firdaus deferred the sentencing until March 26 pending the pathology reports.Hamzani and Hissham, however, claimed trial when charged with hurting civil servants, Mohd Nazzwuan Md Zain, Mohd Azizan Ahmad, Muhammad Sharifuddin Ali and T.Mahendren, who were escorting them from prison to the court in Butterworth on January 7 two years ago when they escaped.Firdaus set March 26 for trial. Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Khairul Fairuz Rahman prosecuted at the Magistrate's Court.Hamzani and Hissham’s two-year run ended last week when they were nabbed by the police in Jitra, Kedah.It was reported that curry or chilli powder was thrown at the policemen, who were then overpowered, in the police van during the escape. The seven fugitives then disappeared into an oil palm plantation in Tasek Gelugor and went their separate ways.The police launched an extensive manhunt around the mainland and in nearby Kedah. A few days after the escape, police shot dead two of them - Mohd Fairuz Adam, 31, and Mohd Noor Mustafa, 28 - who resisted arrest and fired at the cops in Kampung Padang Ibu in Penanti, Permatang Pauh.Mohamad Farid Akhtar, 24, and Mohd Shahrimi Mohd Noor, 28, later turned themselves in while Mohamad Khairulnizam Abdul Rani, 26, was nabbed at an Internet cafe in Bukit Mertajam.In March 2013, the trio were sentenced to two years jail each after they pleaded guilty at the Butterworth Magistrate's Court to four charges of injuring the four police escorts during their escape.They were also sentenced to another 18 months' jail each for escaping from police custody. Perkasa files defamation suit against minister for labelling it ‘extremist’

Malay rights group Perkasa today filed a defamation suit against Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup for allegedly labelling the group as extremist.In the suit, which was filed at the Jalan Duta High Court by the group’s legal representative Adnan Seman, Perkasa is seeking an apology from the minister over his remarks as well as damages.In its statement of claim, Perkasa named two statements made by Kurup on December 24, 2014 and yesterday in which he had allegedly accused Perkasa and Isma of being bigots who must not be tolerated. He was also allegedly said “we must not condone their extremist voices and actions". The group said the statements implied that Perkasa was an extremist group that used religion to spark violence and cause unrest in the country. The alleged statement also suggested that the group had caused fear and disunity in the country.Its president, Datuk Ibrahim Ali, said because of such statements, Perkasa’s reputation has been damaged and has been viewed negatively by the public.He said it was time the organisation hauled those accusing it of being “extremist" to court to prove their claims."This is what they have been saying over and over again. When I said something as a response to something, I have been labelled as a racist, extremist," he said. Ibrahim also alleged that Kurup might have had a personal vendetta against him as the minister had asked Attorney-General Tan Sri Gani Patail to reopen the file against Ibrahim over the “Bible burning" issue.Kurup had allegedly said this in a statement to the media on November 3, 2014.“A-G has found no case to charge me in court. Why is he (Kurup) now trying to put pressure on A-G to reopen the case. The attack is now personal. I have repeatedly said that my statement was twisted," said Ibrahim.He said politicians have been using Perkasa as their punching bag, accusing it of being extremist and racist as they have no issues or new things to highlight.“They want political mileage and using Perkasa will give them just that. Let me tell you that Perkasa is a legitimate organisation. We are not racist, we are not extremist. Have you seen any of us on the street being violent?“We acted within the laws to uphold the Federal Constitution and I know what I am talking about when I speak about something," said Ibrahim, referring to the “Bible burning" comment he allegedly made in January last year.Adnan said Perkasa will also be filing similar suits soon against several individuals."So far we have sent a notice to the eminent 25 leader Datuk Noor Faridah Ariffin. A new Swiss company called Erfolgswelle offers to create a list of globally unique baby names and pare them down with clients until they pick one, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. "We follow a creation process that takes around 100 hours," company CEO Marc Hauser tells BuzzFeed. For $32,000, copywriters cook up names, historians ensure their uniqueness, translators check they won't offend in any language, and lawyers make sure they aren't trademarked. Then, presto, you get a list from which to choose five favorites. Erfolgswelle will even send your faves to 780 people who pick their faves. Yet "the family is always in charge—they have the rudder in their hands," says Hauser.Once a favorite is picked (Blue Ivy and Apple are taken, people!) the company writes up a mythology and history of the name. "Based on the elements of the new name, we create a story with a positive message," Hauser says. "That's why all the parts of the name need a positive message in it." He promises a personal touch, too, telling ABC News that each name must fit "within the family's culture and background." He won't reveal their client list, baby names, or tricks of the trade, but tells the Daily Mail that the name must "roll off the tongue," so, for example, no first name will end "with the same letter that the surname begins with." Rights group slams police raid of cartoonist Zunar’s office

Political satirist and cartoonist Zunar, who is currently in London, tweeted today that police had raided his office to confiscate some of his publications. – The Malaysian Insider pic, January 28, 2015.Human Rights Watch Asia has slammed the Malaysian police's move to raid the office of satire cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque, better known as Zunar, and to seize copies of his books as a further assault on freedom of expression.The watchdog's deputy director Phil Robertson said the raid and seizure which took place today while Zunar was abroad, was "shocking and outrageous" as there was "absolutely no justification for this act of censorship"."Zunar's books should be returned to him and any consideration of charges against him immediately dropped," he said in a statement today.Two policemen had gone to Zunar's office, which shares the same premises as PKR's party organ, Suara Keadilan, at around 10.30am this morning. The majority leader will serve as speaker until Feb. 10, when an election would be held to fill the post permanently.The announcement comes after two days of tense closed-door meetings among Assembly Democrats on whether to oust Silver after he was arrested Thursday and charged in a federal kickback scheme.Assembly Democrats agreed Monday night that Silver, who has held the post since 1994, could not remain and that they would seek to vote him out if he didn't resign. The members will come on the floor, and we've set Feb. 10 for the election day of the speaker," said Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Morelle, a Democrat from Irondequoit, N.Y.Morelle said Silver, who as of Tuesday afternoon had not ceded power, "will not impede the transition."The goal was to push Silver out in time for session Monday, when they will need to adopt rule changes to put in Morelle, the Rochester-area lawmaker.Silver, 70, was elusive over whether he would resign, telling reporters as he left the Capitol: "I will not hinder the process. I believe very deeply in the institution." He said he would remain a member of the Assembly.Unable to come to a consensus on a permanent speaker, the Assembly agreed that Morelle, already second in command, would hold the post until the vote Feb. 10.Morelle and three New York City lawmakers are in the mix to be the permanent speaker. With the majority of members from New York City, Morelle would face an uphill fight to keep the job permanently.Lawmakers were under extraordinary pressure to oust Silver after his high-profile arrest last Thursday. "But from the point of view from the institution, we have to move on. So the consensus was we need to get a vacancy."Indeed, lawmakers spent the day trying to determine how to exactly part ways with Silver. They said it wasn't easy from an emotional and constitutional standpoint. They had had extraordinary loyalties to Silver, despite a number of scandals over the years that had threatened his leadership.Without Silver resigning Monday, Assembly Democrats were left with figuring out their options on how to proceed to remove him and whether to install a permanent or part-time speaker.Some lawmakers were pushing to have Morelle in the position, at least temporarily to maintain continuity as the Legislature heads into budget talks with Gov. The state's fiscal year starts April 1.They can't hold session — not scheduled until next week, anyway — without a speaker.Assemblyman Steve Otis, a Democrat from Rye, N.Y., said the back-to-back marathon days of meetings led to a productive result."I think that we've had a productive two days from lots of input from members to get us to the place that we need to be, and that's going to happen next week," Otis said.But New York City Democrats were privately concerned about Morelle taking the post in the interim, fearing it would cede too much power to him."One thing must be clear throughout the process: The next speaker of the Assembly must be elected from New York City," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.Some lawmakers said Morelle, 57, should get the job, regardless of where he's from."I think he is a very capable person. I think he is a person who would be able to balance the very diverse conference we have. Hampir 1,000 orang termasuk penduduk di Taman Keramat di ibu negara berhimpun mengadakan bantahan bagi mendesak projek pembangunan Datum Jelatek di taman itu dihentikan.
    
Pengerusi Badan Bertindak Datum Jelatek, Salleh Samad berkata projek hartanah itu didakwa ditawarkan kepada warga asing dari China, Singapura dan Indonesia.
    
"Ia terbukti melalui artikel dalam sebuah majalah perniagaan pada 1 Sept 2012 yang mengatakan projek ini ditawarkan kepada pelabur di tiga negeri terbabit.

"Kalau betul projek ini untuk penduduk Keramat, kenapa promosi dilancarkan sehingga ke luar negara," katanya kepada pemberita di Kuala Lumpur hari ini.
    
Dalam perhimpunan itu, sekumpulan penduduk cuba merobohkan pagar penghadang keselamatan di tapak projek itu, namun dihalang pasukan polis dari Ibu Pejabat Polis Ampang Jaya dan Hulu Kelang.
    
Pada 25 Nov lepas, sekumpulan penduduk Taman Keramat telah menyerahkan memorandum kepada kerajaan negeri Selangor untuk diserahkan kepada Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, mendesak projek pembangunan Datum Jelatek dihentikan.
    
Projek Datum Jelatek yang bermula pada 2008 di atas tapak seluas 2.4 hektar di sebelah Stesen LRT Jelatek, melibatkan pembangunan empat blok bangunan kondominium mewah, hotel, pejabat dan pusat beli-belah.

คนอวดผีในสัปดาห์นี้ เป็นเรื่องราวต่อเนื่องจากสัปดาห์ก่อน ในเรื่องราวความรักของแม่ที่มีต่อลูก ในตอน “ดวงวิญญาณแม่น้องกอหญ้า ตอนที่ 2” โดยเรื่องราวเกิดขึ้นเมื่อปี 2555 คุณแม่ของน้องกอหญ้าได้เสียชีวิตลงในบ้าน

จนผ่านไป 3 วันถึงจะมีผู้มาพบศพ โดยระยะเวลาตลอดทั้ง 3 วัน น้องกอหญ้า ก็ได้ใช้ชีวิตอยู่กับร่างของแม่ที่ไร้ซึ่งลมหายใจ

จึงเกิดเป็นความสงสัยที่ว่า ดวงวิญญาณของแม่น้องกอหญ้า ยังคงวนเวียนด้วยความเป็นห่วง คอยดูแลลูกอยู่ใกล้ๆ จนเวลาผ่านไปคนรอบข้างหรือคนในครอบครัวก็ยังคงรู้สึกว่าแม่น้องกอหญ้า ยังไม่ไปไหน ยังวนเวียนมาให้พบเจอ หรือ มีเรื่องราวประหลาดๆ เกิดขึ้นเสมอ

มาในวันนี้ ริว จิตสัมผัส จะอาสาบรรเทาทุกข์ให้กับพ่อน้องกอหญ้า และคนในครอบครัว ซึ่งคุณริวได้สัมผัสถึงดวงวิญญาณของแม่น้องกอหญ้าได้ และได้บอกกับพ่อน้องกอหญ้าว่า

"แม่ของน้องกอหญ้าห่วงลูกมาก กลัวว่าผูหญิงคนใหม่ที่เข้ามาจะไม่รักและเอ็นดูลูก แต่เค้าก็จะอนุญาติให้น้องกอหญ้าเรียกผู้หญิงคนใหม่ว่า แม่  ได้ แต้ต้องสัญญาว่าจะต้องรักและดูแลน้องกอหญ้าเป็นอย่างดี"

นอกจากนี้ ริว จิตสัมผัส ได้เดินทางไปที่บ้านเพื่อสื่อสารกับดวงวิญาณของแม่น้องกอหญ้า ซึ่งพ่อน้องกอหญ้าให้เล่าว่า น้องกอหญ้าได้พบเห็นดวงวิญญาณของแม่อยู่บ่อยๆ ไม่ว่าจะภายในบ้านหรือระเบียนบ้าน อาจจะเป็นเพราะว่ารักความผุกพันที่แม่มีต่อลูก แม้จะไม่มีลมหายใจแล้วแต่ความรักก็ยังคงอยู่...

ในการให้สัมภาษณ์ล่าสุดกับทาง Star News นักแสดงหนุ่มสุดฮอต อีจงซอก (Lee Jong Suk) ได้ออกมาพูดถึงเซเลบหญิงที่เป็นเพื่อนสนิทและเรื่องราวข่าวลือความสัมพันธ์ทางด้านความรักระหว่างเขากับไอดอลสาวคนนึง

โดยนักแสดงหนุ่มได้เปิดเผยว่า เพื่อนเซเลบสาวคนสนิทของเขานั้นคือนักแสดงสาว แพคจินฮี ซึ่งได้เผยว่า “ผมได้กลายมาเป็นเพื่อนสนิทกับแพคจินฮีหลังจากที่เราได้แสดงในซิทคอมทาง MBC เรื่อง High Kick 3 ร่วมกันครับ"

เมื่อถูกถามถึงมิตรภาพระหว่างเขากับดาราหญิงคนอื่นๆ ในแง่ของข่าวลือที่อยู่รอบ ๆ ตัวเขา และซูจี miss A อีจงซอก (Lee Jong Suk) ได้เผยว่า เขานั้นไม่ได้มีความสัมพันธ์อะไรกับซูจี โดยเมื่อเดือนกันยายนปีที่ผ่านมานั้น ทั้งคู่ได้ตกเป็นประเด็นร้อนแรงเกี่ยวกับข่าวลือการคบหากัน ที่ถูกเชื่อมโยงจากของใช้ต่างๆที่ทั้งคู่ใช้

อย่างไรก็ตาม อีจงซอก (Lee Jong Suk) ได้กล่าวอธิบายว่า “ผมไม่รู้จักซูจีเลยด้วยซ้ำ ในตอนนั้น ผมถูกเชิญให้ไปงานขึ้นบ้านใหม่ของพี่อีโบยองและพี่จีซอง ผู้คนที่มาในงานนั้นได้ถามผมว่า “ได้ยินมาว่านายคบกับซูจีหรอ?" แล้วพวกเขาก็หันมามองที่ผม ผมยังจำความรู้สึกตกใจนั้นได้เลย"

สำหรับในประเทศไทย บริษัท ครีเอทิส มีเดีย จำกัด (ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทในเครือทีวี ธันเดอร์) ผู้นำเข้ารายการทีวีระดับโลก ได้ซื้อลิขสิทธิ์รายการ “เทค มี เอาท์" สุดยอดรายการเกมโชว์เพื่อคนโสดมาสู่ผู้ชม ในเมืองไทย เป็นประเทศที่ 17 ของโลก ใช้ชื่อรายการว่า “เทค มี เอาท์ ไทยแลนด์: ถูกชะตาท้าหัวใจ" โดยได้ทำการวิจัยตลาดเพื่อสำรวจความคิดเห็นจากกลุ่มผู้ชมเป้าหมาย และนำมาปรับเปลี่ยนเนื้อหาของรายการบางส่วน เพื่อให้เข้ากับวิถีชีวิตและไลฟ์สไตล์ของคนไทย โดยมีบริษัท ทีวีธันเดอร์ ดูแลในการผลิตร่วมกับทีมโปรดักชั่นระดับโลก เพื่อให้รูปแบบรายการและโปรดักชั่นยังคงความอลังการเทียบเท่ากับที่ออกอากาศในต่างประเทศ โดยจะออกอากาศทางช่อง 3 ทุกวันเสาร์ เวลา 14.00 น.

 

 

รูปแบบรายการ Take Me Out Thailand

แบ่งการนำเสนอรายการออกเป็น 3 ช่วง ได้แก่
ช่วงที่ 1: The Opening (เปิดตัวสาวโสด) เปิดตัวผู้เข้าแข่งขันผู้หญิงจำนวน 30 คน First Impression (ดูดีโดนใจ) เปิดตัวแขกรับเชิญผู้ชายจำนวน 1 คน (ในแต่ละเทปจะมีแขกรับเชิญชาย 3-4 คน) แนะนำข้อมูลส่วนตัวของตัวเอง เช่น “ผมสมชาย อายุ 35 ปี มาจากกรุงเทพฯ" โดยผู้เข้าแข่งขันตัดสินว่าชอบหรือไม่ชอบแขกรับเชิญชายจากความประทับใจ แรกที่เห็น ถ้าชอบให้กดเปิดไฟ ถ้าไม่ชอบก็กดปิดไฟ (ผู้ที่กดปิดไฟจะหมดสิทธิ์ในการแข่งขันช่วงต่อไป)

ช่วงที่ 2: About me / My Specialty (มีดีต้องโชว์) เป็นภาพ VTR ที่แสดงถึงความเป็นตัวตนหรือความสามารถพิเศษของแขกรับเชิญชายคนนั้นๆ โดยผู้เข้าแข่งขันหญิงที่เหลือสามารถตัดสินใจเปิดไฟหรือปิดไฟ หลังจากที่ได้ดู VTR แล้ว (VTR มีประมาณ 3 ตัว และจะฉายไปจนกว่าจะเหลือผู้เข้าแข่งขันหญิงที่เปิดไฟ 2-3 คนสุดท้าย)

ช่วงที่ 3: Date Decision (เลือกคนถูกใจ) แขกรับเชิญชายกลับมาเป็นฝ่ายเลือกผู้เข้าแข่งขันหญิงบ้าง ด้วยการถามคำถามที่ตัวเองตั้งขึ้น ผู้แข่งขันหญิงที่ตอบคำถามไม่โดนใจจะถูกปิดไฟ และผู้แข่งขันที่ไม่ถูกปิดไฟจะเป็นผู้ได้ไปสานความสัมพันธ์ทำความรู้จักเพิ่มเติมกับแขกรับเชิญ หมายเหตุ: กรณีที่แขกรับเชิญชายถูกผู้เข้าแข่งขันปิดไฟหมด ไม่ว่าจะอยู่ช่วงไหนของรายการ (ช่วงที่ 1-2) แขกรับเชิญท่านนั้นจะถูกตัดสิทธิ์ให้ออกจากเกมทันที โดยทางรายการฯ จะนำแขกรับเชิญ คนใหม่ขึ้นมาเล่นเกมใหม่ เพื่อให้ผู้แข่งขันทั้ง 30 คนตัดสินใจเลือกหรือไม่เลือกต่อไป

นอกจากนี้ ยังได้นำคุณเกตุเสพสวัสดิ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา (น้าเน็ก) และคุณพัชรศรี เบญจมาศ (กาละแมร์) พิธีกรชั้นนำของประเทศ มารับหน้าที่สร้างสีสันและความบันเทิงให้กับรายการ “เทค มี เอาท์ ไทยแลนด์" คอยล้วงความในใจ เปิดเผยทัศนคติของผู้เข้าแข่งขัน พร้อมทั้งเสนอความคิดเห็นที่ตรงใจผู้ชมอีกด้วย

Abolish, not defer, National Service, says PKR Youth

Putrajaya spends RM400 million a year for the National Service Training Programme. The sum could be spent elsewhere, like in education, said PKR Youth. – Wikimedia Commons pic, January 21, 2015.Putrajaya should abolish the National Service Training Programme (NS) altogether, instead of suspending it only for this year, as the RM400 million annual fee could be spent elsewhere, PKR Youth said today.The youth wing’s strategy director, Akmal Nasir, said Putrajaya had spent RM5,283 on each of the 832,712 trainees that had undergone the programme since February 16, 2004.“AMK is confident that the same kind of training could be provided at a much lower cost," said Akmal in a statement, referring to the PKR Youth by its Malay acronym.He added that the NS training modules could be carried out by the schools and universities.“The RM400 million amounts to around one-fourth or one-fifth of the annual National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) loan. It could provide RM15,000 study loans to 25,000 university students each year," said Akmal.He suggested that the money could also be better spent on training youths who were unable to enter university or preferred to work, or ensure all schools across the country were equipped with basic facilities.He said previously, the cost to run NS was much higher than RM400 million, usually reaching RM700 million.Putrajaya announced yesterday it would defer NS this year as part of its measures in weathering the plunging crude oil prices.Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said postponing it would save Putrajaya RM400 million.Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said NS camp operators and trainers nationwide will not be affected as they would continue to receive their salaries.NS Training Department Director-General Datuk Mohamed Asri Yusof said the deferral would allow the department to carry out workshops and improve the quality of the programme. – January 21, 2015.

Lacking EC info, embassies requested for Sarawak redelineation briefing, says Bersih

The polls reform group said the sparse information from the EC and disjointed reports on the matter had prompted requests by some diplomats to Bersih 2.0 for a briefing on the matter.Eventually, the Bersih 2.0 steering committee said in a statement today, it decided to hold a briefing for the diplomatic community.Yesterday, former EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar slammed Bersih 2.0 over the briefing, calling it an inappropriate move, as elections were "internal" matters involving Malaysian laws.He asked Bersih why it was "selling" the elections to foreign parties when the issue had nothing to do with them.Bersih 2.0 said it was not surprising that Wan Ahmad saw it as an internal matter, but it was "merely wishful thinking on his part"."For one, delineation is a process that is meant to facilitate the very public matter of election of governments, hence it must be correspondingly transparent to all who have dealings with government. This essentially includes other governments of the world, via their diplomatic representatives."Secondly, as a crucial part of the democratic process, delineation is also a necessarily public matter to ensure it is done fairly."Here is where Wan Ahmad’s 'internal matter' assertion is most revealing, because the EC has certainly been getting away with the delineation scourges of gerrymandering and malapportionment due to a lack of public scrutiny in the past, no doubt engineered by their 'internal matter' stance," the NGO said in its statement.The EC's stance also explained why it had given the people so little public information on the process, despite its importance as a predetermining factor of election outcomes, Bersih 2.0 said.It also hit back at Wan Ahmad for telling Bersih 2.0 to let EC do its job."This is precisely Bersih 2.0’s concern. The EC has certainly not been doing their job in accordance with the stipulations of the Federal Constitution to ensure a fair delineation," it said.Bersih 2.0 said in participatory democracies, civil society played an important role in all public spheres, and the group was doing its part by educating the voters on the redelineation exercise and how they could participate in the process."Wan Ahmad should not fault Bersih 2.0 for wanting to inform, not only fellow citizens, but also the world when the EC does not see itself as an institution of democracy that serves the public," the group said. – January 21, 2015.

ตร.ยันสาวอังกฤษดับที่เกาะช้าง ไม่ใช่ฆาตกรรม

ตร.เกาะเต่า จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี ยืนยันนักท่องเที่ยวสาวชาวอังกฤษดับปริศนาคาห้องพัก ไม่ใช่คดีฆาตกรรม

จากกรณี เว็บไซต์มิเรอร์ของอังกฤษ รายงานว่า น.ส.คริสติน่า แอนส์ลีย์ นักท่องเที่ยวชาวอังกฤษ วัย 23 ปี เสียชีวิตที่ภายในห้องพักของอินทัช รีสอร์ท บริเวณหาดทรายรี เกาะเต่า อ.เกาะพะงัน จ.สุราษฎร์ธานี เมื่อวันที่ 21 ม.ค.ที่ผ่านมา โดยเกาะเต่าเป็นสถานที่เดียวกับที่ น.ส.ฮันนาห์ วิทเธอริดจ์ และ เดวิด มิลเลอร์ นักท่องเที่ยวชาวอังกฤษ 2 ราย ถูกฆาตกรรมเมื่อเดือน ก.ย.2557

ด้าน พ.ต.ท.โชคชัย สุทธิเมฆ สารวัตรใหญ่ตำรวจภูธรเกาะเต่า เปิดเผยว่า จากการสอบถามพนักงานของรีสอร์ท ทราบว่า ผู้เสียชีวิตได้เข้าพักยังรีสอร์ทดังกล่าวเมื่อวันที่ 19 ม.ค. และมีกำหนดออกในวันที่ 21 ม.ค. แต่เมื่อถึงเวลาเช็คเอาต์ผู้เสียชีวิตยังไม่มา พนักงานจึงเดินไปตรวจสอบ เมื่อใช้กุญแจสำรองเปิดเข้าไปดูก็พบว่า น.ส.คริสติน่า นอนเสียชีวิตอยู่ในลักษณะตะแคงข้าง เปลือยกายอยู่ใต้ผ้าห่ม ตามร่างกายไม่พบบาดแผล และในห้องไม่มีร่องรอยถูกรื้อค้น แต่พบยาอยู่หลายชนิด และพบว่ามียา 1 แผง ที่มีการรับประทานไปแล้ว 11 เม็ด จึงร่วมกับหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าตรวจสอบอย่างละเอียด ยืนยันไม่ใช่เหตุฆาตกรรม

ทั้งนี้ ก่อนเสียชีวิตผู้ตายใช้ทวิตเตอร์ถึงเพื่อนๆ เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ผ่านมาว่า "ได้มาเที่ยวเกาะเต่า บรรยากาศสวยงามมาก" โดยผู้ตายวางแผนเที่ยวเมืองไทยเป็นเวลา 4 เดือน

The Finance Ministry said as the revised Budget did not exceed the limit approved by Parliament, there was no need to table it. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak revised the national budget amid a weakened ringgit, plunging oil prices, and floods which devastated the east coast of the peninsula. – The Malaysian Insider pic, January 23, 2015.The Finance Ministry has clarified that the development expenditure of RM50.5 billion, as announced in the Budget 2015 last October, consists of RM48.5 billion in development expenditure and RM2 billion in contingency reserve.In a statement today, the ministry said the contingency reserve is meant for urgent and unforeseen expenditure, for which there is no existing allocation."It is only recognised as expenditure, when it is used. Hence, it [RM2 billion] did not come into the calculation of the fiscal deficit," it said.On the budget deficit, the ministry said it was initially estimated at RM35.7 billion or 3% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)."With lower revenue and a revised GDP growth forecast for 2015 of 4.5% to 5.5%, the budget deficit is now estimated at 3.2% of GDP or RM37 billion," it explained.The ministry stressed the measures announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Tuesday did not involve any additional or supplementary expenditure.As the measures did not exceed the ceiling approved by Parliament, the Budget is not required to be tabled again, it said."As a responsible government, the finance ministry will continue to closely monitor external developments and the impact on the domestic economy," it added.Meanwhile, the ministry said the Budget was initially formulated based on a Tapis crude oil price of US$105 a barrel, adding that Tapis crude oil typically commanded a premium of about US$5 a barrel over the dated Brent Crude Oil Index."Given the need to monitor prices closely, amid continued falling prices of crude oil, reference was made to Dated Brent at US$100 per barrel in the Prime Minister’s special address," it said.It added that Putrajaya had since revised the price assumption for dated Brent to an average of US$55 per barrel for 2015.The ministry also said any queries or clarifications on the Budget can be emailed to  pro@treasury.gov.my. – The Edge Markets, January 23, 2015.

Today, segments of the disassembled dome still lay in the grass across the highway alongside oleander and scrub, lashed down with a white rope.Not for long: Melbourne Beach officials have set a Jan. 31 deadline for the owner, Bob Nolan, 84, to move the Space Race relic elsewhere. Nolan and others fear the 1,100-pound curved contraption will get sold as scrap metal or trucked to the dump."We don't want it destroyed. We don't want a negative to happen," said Nolan, a retired Air Force captain who has championed the dome-preservation campaign."My goal is, because this is such an important piece of history, that we preserve this for future generations. In my view, 99 percent of the people in the United States have never seen anything that has anything to do with NASA, except on TV," Nolan said.Dome pieces and associated hardware sit idle a stone's throw from the Melbourne Beach Old Town Hall History Center. Brevard County owns this property just south of the Flutie Athletic Complex. The Radome was a replacement that was used throughout the shuttle era.Demolition workers cut the dome into eight slices while razing the tracking station. Nowadays, Cain said startled history center visitors have spotted rattlesnakes amid these stacked segments.According to Town Hall documents, the assembled Radome measures 16 feet in diameter and stands 10 feet, 8 inches high. Each aluminum slice is coated with a fiberglass exterior shell and weighs 125 to 130 pounds."If it's not out of here by the 31st, it's going to go into the landfill. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has urged Jakim to explain the true meaning of jihad to curb Malaysians drawn to militant activities abroad. – Reuters pic, January 19, 2015.Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today urged the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) to play an important role in explaining the true meaning of jihad, as Malaysia faces possible threat from militants abroad.Najib, who was speaking at the Prime Minister's Department's monthly gathering this morning, said explanation from the religious body was important to prevent misunderstanding of the concept among Muslims in the country and address militant activities involving Malaysians."It (curbing militancy) is not just the responsibility of the authorities, but also agencies such as Jakim which is required to provide explanation on jihad, what programmes we have, our commitment to the makasid Shariah (the objectives of the Shariah or Islamic laws)."All these must be explained to ensure there is no misunderstanding of our role as a Muslim," he said.On the White Paper entitled "Ke Arah Menangani Ancaman Kumpulan Islamic State (Isis)" (Tackling the Isis Threat), Najib said that the new bill would be tabled in Parliament in March, aimed at combating the threat of terrorism in the country."Last year, we acknowledged the threat to our country in terms of security and I have presented a white paper on the threat of Isis."Come March, I will present the new bill to deal with this threat," he said.In November, apart from the announcement of the White Paper, Najib had also proposed to strengthen existing laws such as the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act, Prevention of Crime Act and the Penal Code to curb the threat of terrorism and militancy.The paper stated that the rise of Isis's influence could inspire and reignite militant groups in Malaysia.It also said that the call to jihad by Isis was very influential as it was based on Islamic compulsion that has been manipulated so Malaysians were compelled to join them.Reports have so far said that Putrajaya has identified 34 Malaysians who had joined Isis, including five who have been killed in action.The Malaysians fighting alongside Isis forces in the Middle East were influenced to take up the struggle via social media, intelligence sources had previously said.Some, like former Kedah PAS Youth information chief Lotfi Ariffin who was killed in Syria, had not only posted about his activities with the militants on Facebook, but had also issued call-to-action messages. – January 19, 2015.
